You can completely erase everything like it was brand new or just do a reset on the operating system which will let you keep game files and apps.
Xbox How to Reset and Remove Everything:
Press the Xbox button from the controller to bring up the Xbox guide.
Scroll over to a profile.
Select Settings.
Now go to System and click on Console info.
At the System Console info page go to Reset Console.
Here you have two choices Reset and Remove Everything and Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.
Choose Reset and Remove Everything will completely erase everything from the Xbox One console. Your games, game saved data, profiles and apps will all be deleted in this process. Use this option if you are selling your Xbox or giving it away to someone else.
Choose Reset and Keep my Games and Apps if you only want to reset the Xbox operating system to factory setting. This will keep all your games and apps.
