“When I start my Windows 10 computer I get unnecessary applications and programs starting up. How do I remove or change which programs can launch during Windows 10 startup?”
How to Change Startup Programs:
1. Right-click the Windows 10 Start menu icon and select ‘Task Manager’ from the list.
2. From the Task Menu window, click on ‘More Details’.
3. Select the ‘Startup’ tab.
4. Here you can see applications and services that run during startup.
The Status tab shows if the app is currently Enabled or Disabled. Disabled apps do not launch during startups and Enabled means these programs do launch during startups.
The Startup Impact tab displays how much resources that particular program uses during startup. If you click on Startup Impact again it will list the applications in order from High to None or None to High. Generally you don’t really need to worry about programs with Low ratings. Instead lookout for programs with Medium to High ratings.
5. To disable a program or service, right-click on it and select ‘Disable’ from the menu that appears. Or just click the big ‘Disable’ button at the bottom to do the same thing. Not sure of a program? When you right-click on a questionable item select ‘Search online’ to launch your default web browser. You can then do some research to find out what the heck it is and whether or not you need it starting up during boot.
6. Now just close the Task Manager window and restart your Windows 10 machine to test out your new startup settings.
