The Windows key also known as the Windows logo key, or WinKey sits between the “CTRL” and the “ALT” key, on the bottom beside the space bar, and usually has the Windows logo on it.
Now that you know where the Windows key is here are some useful shortcuts.
- WinKey – opens the Start menu
- WinKey + 1 – this opens your first program on the Quick Launch bar, check out the tutorial on how to add more programs to Quick Launch
- WinKey + R – this opens the Run command box
- WinKey + E – shortcut for opening Internet Explorer
- WinKey + U – this will open the Ease of Access center for Vista users
- WinKey + F – search for files and folders
- WinKey + L – locks down your computer
- WinKey + M – minimize all open windows
- WinKey + D – displays desktop
- WinKey + Pause/Break – quickly displays the System Properties
- WinKey + t – cycle through open programs on the taskbar
- WInKey +Tab – cycle through open applications in Vista Flip 3D
