“What are the major differences between the iPod 4th generation and iPod 5th gen?”
Screen – The 5th gen iPod touch comes with a taller screen. It measures 4 inches (1136×640) diagonally giving the new iPod touch a 16:9 ratio screen. This means an extra row of icons and the ability to watch widescreen movies without black bars on top and bottom. Apps created for the last gen 960×640 iPod touch screen will run without any problems.
Body Design – Machined from a single piece of aluminum, the 5th gen touch is super light and thin. The 4th gen iPod touch came with a stainless steel back.
Lots of colors to choose from – Before the iPod touch 5 the only choice of colors were black or white. Now you can choose between five colors (Pink, Blue, Yellow, Silver and Black).
iPod touch loop – The new touch comes with a matching rubber wrist strap to prevent damage from dropping. Its kind of similar to the Wii-remote strap.
Better cameras – The previous iPod touch rear camera could record 720p videos, the 5th gen can do 1080p videos. The newer camera can also capture 5 megapixel pictures and there is also a nifty Panorama feature. The front camera has also been upgraded, snap 1.2 MP photos and record 720p video at up to 30 fps (VGA-images and video at up to 30 frames/s for iPod 4).
Stronger processor – Out with the old and in with the new. The iPod 4th generation was running Apple’s A4 chip, the new iPod runs the dual-core A5 chip which translates to twice as much processing power and 7x the graphics performance.
Got Siri? – For the first time the iPod touch comes with Siri, your personal assistant for asking questions, making recommendations, reminders and performing a variety of tasks.
New dock connector – The new iPod touch uses the new Apple Lightning connector. That means if you’ve invested a lot of money in accessories you will need to get one of Apple’s adaptors or by new stuff.
New Apple EarPods – You’ll get a completely new redesign earphones with the iPod touch 5.

Just came across this as I was interested in buying the new iPod. The main drawback for me is the dock plug. I think the new dock plug is a really bad idea. Sounds like an extra way to sponge money from customers. Has anyone had troubles with it?
I do like the taller screen and the back change. The stainless steel, nice as it was to use as a mirror for last case scenario, got scratched way too much and looked somewhat trashy compared to the colored backs. Speaking of which, do they scratch easily?
Well, I’m definitely going to buy this one either way, because I really need an update from my 3rd gen iPod touch. I just hope it’s worth the money I’m spending.

For once, I’ve heard that the Apple EarPods are actually really good. Compared to the original earbuds, which break easily and are just not up to standard, I myself have experienced the EarPods, which have an amazing bass for dubstep lovers. My friend has had hers since October, only having to get a new pair because her original was stolen in December.
Why the hell would I want to buy a new charger?! The old one was good enough…

I do not think that people should yalk badly about the new changes. They are all very nice. I love panorama and siri sounds pretty cool for an ipod. I think the colors are cool and who cares if you can’t use your own charger. If it bugs you so much don’t get the ipod 5!
Im 12 and have been saving lots of money i want the newest really bad but i dont want to wait longer. I really want the new one but its more. I would need over 100 more dollars. Any suggestions to what i could do before the 21st???
well ther is no diffrence just more expensive and has a diffrent charger, comes with earbuds who cares has flash i would recomend it only tom ppl who like taking videos and pictures biggest misstake i made

my friend is selling hers and im so happy that i have enough money for it! its blue and hers doesn’t have a scratch and shes had it for more then two months! her parents bought her a phone and now she selling hers for 100 dollars. it has lots of good NEW things that the ipod 4 has. i have an ipod 4 and its not working well. so i think that te ipod 5 is good for everyone! 🙂

ipod 5 is bigger runs faster comes in 6 different colors zooms in closer and has HD when yu watch a video or movie nd has retrica 4th gen only comes in black and white smaller runs slower dosent zooms in as much nd the video dosent looks as good so get the 5th gen at game stop they come cheaper if used but make sure that its in good condition nd yu can always just buy a new one but when yu turn it on yu have to have wifi on 4th gen nd 5th any ipod yu cant turn it on when yu first get it unless yu connect it to wifi hope I helped you a lot <3<3<3<3……..

Dear Sensible Person if you say that people should get off electronics and go outside then why dont you. How exactly did you write that without being on an electronic device stupid. Anyway Both my siblings have them and are in love with them. It is better (5g) than the 4g simply because those who can’t the constant change of upgrades for a phone get an iPod which acts more as a phone(5g) without actually having to be one.
I think that the new IPod 5 is great! I am getting a slightly used one, no scratches, for $150! I like that it is bigger and that it works faster because I always get frustrated with how slow electronics can be. For those that say get outside… I do that… I have a horse, two pigs, a cat, a dog, two rabbits, and those are COMPLETELY mine. So yes I go outside but I do other things besides that. 🙂
