There is so much information on the interwebs how can you easily manage all the incomings news from around the world without going insane? Back in the old days people would go from website to website to get a variety of different news from a variety of different sources. Welcome to the new age, now you can bring all the news and information to you all in one place with a RSS Reader also know as a Feed Reader. There are so many RSS readers out there which one should you get for the important task of fetching all your RSS subscriptions?
Here are some of the best RSS readers according to me. Any of these readers should do an excellent job in managing your RSS subscriptions. Most if not all of these are cross platform RSS Readers which means it will work on Windows, Mac, or Linux.
Google Reader – This is probably the most popular among RSS readers and if you already have some type of Google account such as Gmail than you can add Google Reader very easily. The look and style is very typical for a Google product and the interface is nice. Is there anything Google can’t do?
NewsGator/FeedDemon/NetNewsWire– These guys have a number of different RSS readers for just about any platform including the iPhone and other mobile devices. Very good top notch readers here, they got FeedDemon for Windows, and NetNewsWire for the Mac and iPhone/iPod touch.
Sage – This is a Firefox Add-on that has become “the” RSS reader of choice for Firefox users.
Netvibes – This is more like a personal home page with widgets, weather, games and all sorts of crazy stuff. If you ever used iGoogle than you know what I’m talking about.
RSSOwl – One of the most popular open source RSS reader, very simple and clean interface with support for many different languages.
Thunderbird – From the same company who brought you Firefox, Thunderbird mail client can also read RSS feeds. If you need another reason to check your mail than this is the one for you.
