“I know its some sort of gaming console, but I don’t know anything else. What is Ouya?”
Ouya (pronounced OOO-yah) is a new gaming console built with open-source software running Google’s Android (version 4.0) operating system. It’s a inexpensive (around $99) gaming console funded by gamers (including myself) through Kickstarter. Only people who have backed the project through Kickstarter will get the console when it launches on March 2013.
Quick facts about Ouya:
- Every game will be free to try
- The console runs on Android so any app developer can publish their Android app to Ouya
- Hacker friendly, will not void warranty
- Traditional style controller with touch pad
- Stream games with OnLive
