Podcasts are nothing more than internet audio (usually in mp3) which you can subscribe to or download. You don’t need an “Ipod” to play podcasts either, any mp3 player or portable device will play them just fine. Whatever your interests are there are probably a few podcast out there for it.
Most podcast are very amateurish because anybody with a computer and a microphone can produce a podcast. That’s the great thing about podcasts anybody can be a radio star now thank to the internet. One of my favorite podcast is done by two brothers in their basement talking about new dvd releases. Podcasts are starting to become more mainstream now and as it gets more popular there will be more and more highly produced and bigger budgets put into podcasts and advertisers won’t be to far behind.
To subscribe to a podcast you will need a podcast aggregator also known as “podcatcher. My personal favorite is a little program called Juice it’s a free program and it’s open source. Itunes is another great option too.
Now that you have a podcatcher you need to find podcasts, here are some of my favorite places to get new podcasts, Podcast Alley, Podcast Pickle and of coarse Itunes.
I hope this is enough info to get you started in podcasts or maybe even start producing your very own.
