“I’m new to the whole Facebook thing and I noticed that there’s a Poke thing on my Facebook page, what is the Poke thing for and what does it mean to Poke someone on Facebook?”
Facebook has a neat little feature where it allows you to “poke” another Facebook user. Poking someone on Facebook is not really meant to be anything sexual at least that’s probably not what the developers were going for, “poking” someone simply means saying “hey, how you doing?”. I guess it’s a nice way of letting someone know that you’re thinking of them, like a friendly gesture. Maybe some people who use the poke feature sees it as a way to say hello without having to talk to the other person or it could be used in a sexual manner as well, who knows. Facebook users who poke people, poke for their own reasons.
How to Poke someone on Facebook:
- Sign into your Facebook account.
- In the search field on the left hand side, search for a friend by type in a name.
- Find your Facebook friends profile from the list.
- When you find the person you want to poke click on the “Poke him!” button” on the left hand side of the profile.
- A box will appear asking for a poke confirmation, hit “OK” to proceed with the poking.
- Now you wait, the next time your friend logs into his or her Facebook account they will receive a message that they have been poked.
Using Facebook Poke Feature to find a Mate
Here’s a clever way you can use the Poke on Facebook and this is for all you single guys and gals who are looking for a mate.
- Go to Profile Search
- Now in the Category section you can start typing in specific things you want in a mate such as non-smoking, enjoys hiking, single. Experiment with the search feature.
- When you have found your perfect mate give him or her a nice little poke so they can see your profile and if you seem interesting they can add you to their Facebook friend.
