Hi there, I’m find that when I try to download from Cnet’s download.com, web site, using Internet Explorer 7, Cnet says thank you for downloading, but no download starts, when I use Safari , I don’t have any troubles!!. My computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1.
This seems to be a common problem and may have something to do with Service Pack 1 or some type of “Download Manager” program. Did downloading work before Service Pack 1? Or do you have some type of third party download manager? I found that most people just gave up on Internet Explorer and just used Firefox. Until Microsoft fixes this problem it may be a good idea just to use a different browser like Firefox which is awesome by the way. But here are some things you can try if you are stubborn enough to stick with IE 7.
Try this, create a new admin account and try using IE7 to download files. If this works than we know that something went wrong in some settings some where with the original account. Pain in the behind I know but this should work. You could try some other methods below but there’s a good chance they may not work.
- Disabling UAC (which is not recommended)
- Delete IE7 Temporary Internet Files
- Temporally disable any third party anti-virus/spyware or firewall program
- Do a system scan for viruses and spyware
- Reset Internet Explorer 7 settings

Sorry for the delay to your help , I don’t run a third party downlad manager, I think that it did work ok before servise pack 1. As I said I don’t experience any problems when I use safri or if I go start to the origonal web site for the software. You have comfirmed my suspicions that it is a internet explorer fault. Thank you for your HELP, I will use firefox from now on .
