Are there such programs where I can talk to the computer and it would do the typing for me?
The thing you are referring to is called voice dictation software. Dragon Naturally Speaking has been for a long time the best program out there for Windows.
If you’re on a Mac than than check out MacSpeech Dictate which is based on the Dragon engine.
The accuracy on these voice dictation software is about 90 to maybe 95 percent so you will be manually going back making a few corrections. For people who can’t type or people who can type but would rather talk than voice dictation software will do most of the typing for you. There will be some typing involved for fixing errors. Although you do not have to talk like a robot you will need to speak a little more clearly than you normally would for smooth operation.

Ummm – accuracy with MacSpeech Dictate is actually very close to 100%. Most people get 98 to 99 percent accuracy or better within 10 minutes of installing the software.

Wow, a 100%. Although, sounds like a gimmic. Never trust an always, never, 100%, etc. To say its 100%, or even 98 to 99 percent, is saying the majority of the english language is in the programs dictionary. Thats an aweful lot of words with some being close to the same pronunciation.

Does anyone know of a talk to type software that will work on a tablet?.
Bradley says
For light needs, I would check out TalkTyper.com. It’s free – all you need is a microphone and Google Chrome. The main limitation I’ve found with this site is that you have to dictate a chunk at a time. It’s not running dictation. On the plus side, once you’re done, you can print, email, or tweet straight from the page.
@Gary – if your tablet is any recent Android tablet, it’s built in. Click the microphone button on the keyboard. Obviously now, there’s also the iPad 3.
