Do you want to browse the web safely without having to worry about spyware or viruses getting onto your system? I’m gonna show you how to surf the web freely without having to worry about clicking on a bad link or installing bad malicious software on your computer from malicious websites that try to install spyware and viruses on your system. Perhaps you share a computer but you want to make sure nothing bad gets installed on your system from another careless user. Well I hope this guide will help you.
Firefox with NoScript Add-on
First thing I want to recommend is using the Firefox web browser not because it’s a great browser because it is but because we want to install my second recommendation which is a little plug-in for our Firefox browser called NoScript. No Script protects you from browser hijacking or click jacking where bad websites can trick you into clicking a bad link and filling out personal information or prevents bad websites from downloading or installing malicious programs on your computer.
Sandboxie
The third thing I want to recommend is Sandboxie. Sandboxie is a program that traps everything inside a virtual “sandbox” and prevents any changes from being made to the operating system. Any changes that are made are contained within the sandbox and will be discarded when you are finished your session.
So what we can do is run Firefox with the NoScript add-on within Sandboxie for the ultimate secure web browser. Sounds a bit geeky but I think everyone should be doing this.
Step 1 – Get Firefox – http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
Download and install Firefox web browser.
Step 2 – Install NoScript for Firefox – https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
Install NoScript add-on for Firefox. Use your Firefox browser you just installed and go to the add-on page (link above) and click “Add to Firefox” to install it onto Firefox. This add-on might be a little annoying at first because some website will not work properly so if there’s a site that you trust all you need to do is right click on the web page and scroll down to NoScript and “Allow” that website to run scripts.
Step 3 – Install Sandboxie and Sandbox Firefox – http://www.sandboxie.com/
Download Sandboxie and read these instructions here http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?GettingStarted to get started.
