Sony recently confirmed the PlayStation 5 will be released near the end of 2020, most likely just before the holiday season. This will automatically make it the must-have-gift for the Christmas tree.
The PS4 controller rumble (DualShock) technology will be replaced with the new Haptic feedback.
The PS5 controller will use haptic feedback for broader range of feedback and try to stimulate real life touch experiences. This means different scenarios will feel different in your hands.
Adaptive trigger:
The other thing they talked about is called adaptive triggers. It’s incorporated into the L2/R2 buttons on the controller. This will allow the developers to fine tune different types of trigger actions such as drawing a bow or pressing down on a gas pedal.
It sounds very similar to the pressure sensitive triggers we already have on the PS4 Dualshock controller. I’m really looking forward to how the haptic feedback will work together with the adaptive triggers.
