“I’ll be getting a new PS4 but I want to keep some of my saved games so I don’t have to start all over again. How do I back up my game saves and transfer them over to my new PS4?”
Backup and Transfer Game Saved Data on PS4:
This tutorial will go through the steps on how to backup your PS4 game saved data online automatically to the cloud. To use the ‘Auto-Upload’ feature you’ll need to be a Playstation Plus member and also activate your current PS4 as Primary.
1. Activate as Primary PS4 – Go to ‘Settings’ and ‘Playstation Network/Account Management’ and select ‘Activate as Your Primary PS4’ than click on ‘Activate’.
2. We need to make sure the PS4 stays connected online. While still in ‘Settings’ select ‘Power Save Settings’. Then select ‘Set Functions Available in Rest Mode’. Make sure there’s a checkmark on ‘Stay Connected to the Internet’.
3. Head back to the Settings page and scroll over to ‘Application Saved Data Management’.
4. Scroll down to ‘Auto-Upload’.
5. On this page select which game saves you want backed up online automatically.
6. To restore your game saved data go to ‘Application Saved Data Management’ and select ‘Saved Data in Online Storage’ and select ‘Download to System Storage’. A list of of PS4 game saves will appear.
When the PS4 detects changes in your game saves it will upload the most current game saved data online automatically whenever you put the PS4 in rest mode or turn it off.
To check current progress of uploads go to ‘Notifications’ than to ‘Uploads’.
