“My PS3 freezes on some sites mainly Yahoo related and Youtube. I’m afraid I have caught a virus of some sort on my PS3 hard drive. When i close my browser the loading icon remains loading, and I have to MANUALLY shut off my system and upon doing so my system takes about 30 seconds to actually turn off. When i turn it back on I receive the ps3 “submit problem” report page saying: a problem accrued powering off your ps3 would you like to report this problem. is there a site or way i can scan my hard drive to see what is damaged,(if any) I do NOT own a PC, I am using a wireless connection.”
It’s highly unlikely you have a virus on your PS3 console this sounds more like unstable software or maybe even hardware issue. Is your system still under warranty? If it is give Sony Playstation a call.
Have you updated to the latest firmware version?
Have you tried the “Restore PS3 System” from the settings menu, this will format and erase everything on the hard drive and take the PS3 back to the original state when you first bought the PS3. Remember this ERASES everything like your game save data, wireless settings, game downloads and whatever else so be sure to back everything up if you’re gonna do this. And was it just recently that Youtube and Yahoo loaded up slow or was it always like that? YouTube is a very demanding site which requires a good wireless connection for smooth video playbacks. Try connecting the PS3 via Ethernet cable if possible.
I don’t think there are any site where you can scan your PS3 hard drive, but if anyone out there knows of one give us a shout in the comment section.
my ps3 browser does that from time to time. if you allow cookies and delete cache that usually does the trick. the browser aint that good its sorta tricky to what sites you can visit without it freezing up. also i notice when i start clicking stuff befor its loaded up that sometimes freezes up. i also tested having it wired or wireless i notice it was like 1 mb quicker when wired.
it’s the flash that does it.. flash sucks balls on all platforms.. Started happening for everybody at the same time.. what happened was new flash for websites.. but not new flash for platforms (other than pc’s/macs..) on youtube it started when they began pumping the ‘ads by google’ crap randomly into videos.
SO glad flash is on it’s way out… think about all the saved CPU overhead globally when flash is gone.. probably alone will keep megatons of CO2 out of the atmosphere.. and cool global warming since your (and everybody eleses)computer will run 10% cooler… ha.. (first part serious, second part.. joke.. )
Anyhoo.. I used the PS3 all the time for youtube.. hardwire to router.. fat 22mb/s pipe.. it started all the sudden. Right now it’s hit or miss but generally around 5-10 vids the thing freezes and you have to press and hold power and cold reboot.. weak. I wish the PS3 could access the h.264 portal (for ‘roid phones, iphones, etc..) instead.
i copied some movies onto my ps3’s hard drive via usb flash drives and other external devices and i think i got a few viruses, is there any way that i can remove these viruses without losing all my data, if so please provide info.
can any one help me on this…i recently inserted an external hard drive on my ps3..and infected me wit viruses and now my ps3 is reading that its hard drive is corrupted….what can i do to fix this..thanx desperate to play again

on mw3… about 30 seconds into a game i get disk read error or i just freeze up and i have to pull the plug just to turn it off… and i have already restored my system which only deleted everything for no reason … so HELP!!!
