“How do you password protect the Kindle Fire HD?”
Restrict access to your Kindle Fire HD by setting up a ‘lock screen password’. Once it’s set up you’ll need to enter your password whenever the device is turned off or in sleep-mode.
How to password protect the Kindle Fire HD:
1. From the top of the screen, swipe downwards.
2. Select ‘More’.
3. Tap ‘Security’.
4. Find ‘Lock Screen Password’ and tap ‘On’.
5. Now enter a password, it must be a least 4 characters long. Letters and numbers can be used.
6. Select ‘Next’ and tap ‘Done’ to confirm your password.
Removing password:
To remove the password simply follow the above directions and set the ‘Lock Screen Password’ to ‘Off’. Enter your existing password.

Thank you! Since the update on my kindle fire’s (3 gen); had a software update. I didn’t know how to remove the password on the lock screens. I had to do one more extra step. I had to hide my children’s profiles; then I follow your instructions. I’m glad I found your website.
