Here are some tips for syncing your iPad to iTunes:
Get the latest version of iTunes.
Restart the iPad. Press and hold the button (Sleep/Wake button) on top of the iPad for several seconds, a red slider will appear on the screen, slide the slider to shut down the iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the Apple logo comes on the screen to turn the iPad back on.
Recharge your iPad.
Try a different USB 2.0 port. Try disconnecting and reconnecting. Use ports built into your computer instead of external USB ports.
Restart your computer. When the computer finishes doing its thing, reconnect the iPad and cross your fingers.
