“I need to know who a phone number belongs to. Are there any websites where I can put in the number to find out where this number came from?”
The service you want is called “reverse lookup” and there are many available online, some offer this as a free service but there are a few that requires payment.
Google Phonebook can find just about any public phone in United States. Sorry no mobile numbers or private numbers will work here.
Looking up a phone number with Google is pretty straight forward. Simply go to Google homepage and type in “phonebook:” and the number with the area code so it looks something like this “phonebook: 555-123-4567”. You could also use brackets as well like this “phonebook: (555) 123-4567”.
Within the Google Phonebook results you can also view a map of the location.
For reverse cellphone lookup check out these sites:
Free Cellphone Tracer – Find the location of the number and the cellphone carrier but expect to pay if you want more info.
Cellphone Registry – Find out where the number is registered and pay for more information.
