Here’s a quick how-to DVD Decrypter guide to rip DVD’s you own.
Download DVD Decrypter from here.
Install it on your PC.
With DVD Decrypter open insert a DVD movie you want to rip onto your hard drive. Click the “Mode” on top of the menu and select “IFO” You may get a warning that some type of copy protection has been found blah blah blah just press “OK” to continue. By default DVD Decrypter selected my movie file to rip. Under the Input tab there are a number of VTS files and somewhere in there is the movie file you want to rip. If it’s not already selected for you than you can select the file with the longest running time which will be the movie. If it’s a tv series DVD you may want to only select certain episodes to rip.
Select the destination where you want the ripped movie to be put in by clicking the little folder icon.
Click on the Green arrow to start ripping the DVD onto your hard drive.
Now go grab a cup of coffee cause this may take about half an hour or less to completyly finish ripping. When it’s finished a “Operation Successfully Completed” will come up press “OK”. A average 2 hour movie will take about 4GB of hard drive space. That’s all there is to ripping a DVD.
Now that you got the VOB files on your drive you could use a player like VLC to playback those VOB files on your drive or convert it to avi, iPod, PSP or burn it to a DVD. There will be more tutorials on what you can do with those VOB files so stay tuned.
