Here’s how you can resize an image using Microsoft Windows Paint program. Paint is a very good editing graphics painting program and it comes free with every Windows computer.
Note: I’m using the latest version of Paint in Windows 7, if you have a previous version of Windows the instructions may be slightly different. For previous versions of Paint scroll down to the end of this article for those instructions.
1. Launch Paint by clicking the Start button (orb), then type “paint” in the search box.
2. Click on the little file icon on the upper left hand corner, and scroll down to “Open” and browse for the picture to resize and click “Open” again.
3. With the image in Paint we can now begin our resizing process, while in the Home tab click on the “Resize” button.
4. A “Resize and Skew” window appears, choose how you want to resize the image, “Percentage” or “Pixels”. Click on either of those options than enter your numbers in the proper field. I like to use the percentage because I can make a picture smaller without making the image disproportional just as long as the percentages on the top and bottom are the same numbers. Play with it until you find the groove.
5. Hit “OK”, your image should now be resized to your specification.
6. To save the resized image click on the file icon and scroll down to “Save as”.
For older version of Paint:
- Launch Paint by going to Start >Programs, Accessories
- With an image open in Paint, click “Image”
- Scroll down and select “Stretch and Skew”
- Enter the amount in Percentage you want to resize
- Click “OK” when finished, and that is all, folks. Oh don’t forget to “save”.
