Last time we went went through the process of reducing a image file size in KB using IrfanView so our images would be more web friendly and bandwidth friendly as well.
Today we will reduce our image file size using another program called RIOT which stands for Radical Image Optimization Tool. It’s a very easy to use and does a great job in making image file sizes smaller, I like it better than IrfanView because its got a side by side comparison so I can see what the image looks like after its been reduced.
2. Launch Riot, and click on the folder icon that says “Open”, and browser for the image you want to work with. Click “Open” when you have found the picture.
3. There are now two images side by side, the image on the left is the original image, and the image on the right is the one that has been reduced in size (KB). The image by default should be set to JPEG, there are also GIF, and PNG option as well but they will be much larger in file size. If you’re happy with the image quality and the KB size you can go ahead and save the file. If you’re not happy with the file size or the image quality use the slider and adjust accordingly.
4. Now all you need to do is save your image by clicking the big “Save” icon then choose the destination and hit “Save”.
