“How do I lock iPad screen orientation?”
Apple changed the way you lock the iPad (and iPhone and iPod touch) screen orientation with its recent 4.2 software update. Back in the good old days all you needed to do was flick the switch above the volume control to lock the screen. Now that same switch is nothing more than a mute button.
To lock the iPad (iPhone and iPod touch) screen you’ll need to do a few extra steps to achieve the same goal.
1. Adjust the screen to Landscape or Portrait mode. Double-tap the Home button.
2. The Multitasking status bar will appear. Swipe to the left hand side once (flick from left to right).
3. Tap the semi-circle-arrow icon. A padlock will appear to show the iPad is now locked and ready for action.
