“I’d like to listen to music I have on my computer on the PS4. Is there a way to listen to music on the system?”
Here’s a guide for playing Mp3 files from your computer on the PS4 using a thumb drive.
1. Grab a USB stick, create a folder called ‘Music’ onto the USB. Drag and drop your music files into this folder. You can put individual MP3s songs directly into the created ‘Music’ folder or you can drag an entire Album folder into the Music folder.
2. Plug the USB filled with music into one of the PS4 USB ports located in front of the system. A new option should appear on the menu called, USB Music Player. Hit X on the controller to view your music files.
3. You can begin playing music by hitting X on the controller. As the music plays you’ll see song details on the right hand side of the screen.
4. The PS4 USB Player comes with a few music controls, perform the following functions by pressing these buttons:
- L1 – Previous Song
- R1 – Next Song
- L2 – Fast Reverse
- R2 – Fast Forward
- Shuffle/Repeat
- Volume control
- Play/Pause
5. You can now exit the music player and the music will continue playing in the background. To control the music while playing a game, press and hold the PS button for a menu and scroll down to USB Music Player, you can then switch songs with L1 and R1. Or head back to the home screen and control the music player as usual from the app.
6. You can unplug the USB stick whenever you’re finished and the USB Music Player will stop playing and the option will disappear from the screen.
