“Just bought the new iPad 2 so I want to remove all my data from the original iPad. How do I reformat the iPad back to original state?”
Take your iPad back to the original factory settings and completely free of personal information by following these steps.
Note: This process deletes everything off the iPad, sync with iTunes if you need a back up.
1. Click on the “Settings” icon from the home screen.
2. From the “General” page, select “Reset” at the very bottom of the page.
3. Tap on “Erase all content and settings” from the list. This option will remove all your information, pictures and videos. All iPad settings will be set back to their original value.
4. If you’re using a passcode you’ll need to enter it here.
5. Confirm (twice) to delete all your media and data by clicking on “Erase”.
That’s pretty much it, your iPad is clean of all personal data and ready for the lucky new owner.
