I reinstalled Windows Vista recently and Vista created a folder with all the files of the previous install. The problem is that those old files take up over 80 GB on my drive. How do I delete the Windows.old files?
Before you delete the folder make sure you don’t have files you may need on the previous install.
Click on the Start icon, now in the search field type in “disk cleanup”. Now select either “My files only” or “Files from all users on this computer”. Windows will begin calculating how much space can be cleaned up, this could take some time depending on how much space can be saved.
Now make sure “Windows Previous installlation(s)” is marked for clean up, click “OK” and this will remove those old Windows files from the drive and claim back some space.
