How can I use a second monitor with my laptop? I’ve seen some other people do this with their laptop and was wondering what I need to have on my laptop to achieve this. This would give me more space to open up different programs.
Your laptop should have either DVI (digital) or VGA (analog) or both. All you need is a second monitor and with the proper cable you can either connect the monitor to the DVI or VGA port on your laptop. Your computer may detect the second monitor automatically but if it doesn’t you can go to your “Display Settings” in XP or in Vista to tweak the settings.

Hi, I would like some help connecting monitors to my laptop. I am starting day trading and need to see different things on my monitors than on my laptop screen. I don’t know how to set up for that function. I purchased 2 monitors, and would like to be able to see something different on each screen. Is this even possible and if so, how do i accomplish this??
Please help 🙂

Willie, if you have a mac, go to display settings in system preferences, then look for an option called “mirror screens”. Once you find this make sure the box is unticked to keep it turned off, then you can simply drag and drop between both screens
