Ubuntu comes with a pretty decent audio cd burning program for burning MP3’s into audio CD. Here’s how to burn a audio CD in Ubuntu:
Go to Applications > Sound and Video > Serpentine Audio CD Creator. With the new Window open press the “Add” button. Now browse through the directories to where the music mp3’s are stored. Now you can select individual audio mp3’s to create your own personal mix or to select all of the songs in a particular folder, highlight the first song and press and hold the “Shift” key and select the last song, now all the songs in that folder are highlighted. Click “Open” to proceed. After a few seconds the audio tracks are ready to be burned onto a CD, click on “Write to Disc” a warning will appear click on “Write to Disc” to continue. Insert a blank CD for burning if you haven’t already. Now the audio MP3’s are being prepared for writing, and in a few minutes the audio CD will be finished burning and will be ready to play in any CD player for your listening enjoyment.
You can also begin burning a audio Cd by inserting a blank CD into the drive, Ubuntu will see the blank disc and give you some options. “Choose your Disc Type”dialog box will appear. click “Make Audio Cd” this will launch Serpentine Audio Creator automatically now just follow the procedure as above.

I installed Ubuntu (7.10 Gutsy) in late June and then installed Sound Juicer (to play and to rip), gstreamer (to convert) and Serpentine to burn files in mp3 format. This worked for a couple of weeks and then Serpentine decided to suddenly UNwork.
I have un- and re-installed all of the above half a dozen times. Sound Juicer finally went to ripping and playing (mp3) again, but Serpentine has never worked again since it decided to UNwork.
Each time I attempt to burn an mp3 file to a new disk I get an error that states “Converting Files Failed”.
What’s to convert?? The files are already saved onto my HDD in mp3 format, all Serpentine needs to do is BURN the damn things. It will not.
After about 3 weeks of fooling with this junk and not resolving the problem, I have installed Kubuntu along side Ubuntu and then installed K3b to do the job of burning mp3 files to disk. I have not had another problem burning to disk.
