“I have a Twitter account for personal use and I only want my close inner circle to see what I’m doing. I get the occasional people who I never heard of follow me for no apparent reason, how do I block or remove these followers?”
Here’s one way of blocking people on Twitter:
1. Log into your Twitter account.
2. Click on your “Followers” link just under your user name.
3. You will now see your list of Twitter followers, on the right hand side of their user name under “Actions” click on the icon that looks like a little gear. A drop down menu will appear, scroll and click the bottom selection where it says “Block (username)”.
4. You will get a warning saying “Blocking will prevent this user from following you blah blah, are you sure”. Click “Ok” if you’re sure.
5. The Twitter user is now blocked and removed from your list of followers. And don’t worry about hurting their feelings cause they wont be notified that they’ve been blocked.
So what exactly does blocking someone on Twitter do?
- The follower will not be on your list of followers
- They will not receive your updates (tweets)
- You will not appear on his list of following or anywhere on the blocks users profile
- They cannot reply to you
- You will not appear on their friends time line
