“I have a friend that is always on Facebook, every time I decide to log on to Facebook she finds out that I am on there and then tries to chat with me. How do I block her from finding out that I am on Facebook?”
There are a few things you can do depending on how far you want to take it.
Option 1 – Change your online status to offline. This is probably the easiest way to block a friend from chatting with you. By going offline you will be invisible to everyone and stop receiving chat messages from all confirmed friends.
- At the bottom right toolbar click “Chat”
- Then click “Options”
- Scroll up to the very top and select “Go offline”
Option 2 – Block them from contacting you. When logged into Facebook select “Settings” and choose “Privacy Settings”. Type in the person’s name you want to block from contacting you.
Option 3 – Put that person on a “Friends List” and then go “Offline” to that Friend List that you created. So after you’ve created that list click on the white circle and change the status bar from green to grey.
Create the List by giving it a name, click on the “Friends List” and make sure your created list has a check mark. Put the mouse over the list name and click “Edit” to add users to the list.
Put the slider to “grey” to go offline to that Friends List.
Now you don’t have to chat to that annoying Facebook friend that’s online every second of the day.
