There are currently two versions of PS3 you can buy in North America, the 40 GB PS3 and the 80 Gb PS3. The price of the Playstation 3 has dropped to a nice affordable level although still expensive. If you are having trouble deciding which PS3 to buy check out this post, which PS3 is better.
The cost of the cheaper PS3 is $399.99 which come with the 40 GB hard drive but no backwards compatibility for PS2 games.
The price of the more expensive PS3 is $499.99 which comes with the 80 GB hard drive, a free game (MotorStorm) and is backward compatible with most PS2 and PS1 games.
