“How do you clean monitors without damaging them?”
Here’s how I usually clean my computer monitors:
Turn off your monitor, with the monitor off you can see all the dirty greasy areas.
Get yourself a nice soft cloth or a microfiber cloth like the ones used to clean eyeglasses, do not use paper towels or anything rough that may scratch up the surface of the monitor.
Get the soft cloth and dampen it with water so its not dripping all over the place. If you got distilled water lying around that would be even better but I find that plain water doesn’t really hurt. Avoid using ammonia-based cleaners or anything with alcohol because LCD monitors are very sensitive to chemicals and could damage the screen. Stick with good old fashion water or you can also try a equal mixture of white vinegar and water.
With the damp cloth begin wiping the monitor gently from the top to bottom in a downward motion. Remember not to apply too much pressure on the monitor. Work your way around the monitor till it’s nice and clean.
Note: Never spray any liquids directly on the monitor, liquids can end up dripping to the bottom and sneak inside which can cause damage to the monitor. Instead spray the cleaning solution directly onto the cloth.
