“I want to save some Youtube videos on my computer to watch later without going to YouTube.com. How do I save Youtube videos on my computer?”
Here’s how I save YouTube videos onto my computer for viewing at a later time.
Step one: Download Firefox. If you already use Firefox than that’s one less step for you. If you’re not using Firefox, why aren’t you? It’s my favourite we browser because of all the wonderful add-ons available which includes the one I’m about to show you.
Step two: Download the Add-on. This is basically a plugin for the web browser so that we can download videos on YouTube. The add-on is called Video DownloadHelper which you can get here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006. Click on the big green “Add to Firefox” button to download and restart Firefox when complete.
Step three: Try it out! Go to YouTube and pick a video you want to download. Just left of the address bar you should see three little coloured balls moving around, click on the the arrow just to the right of those balls and you should get one or more options of things you can download. Look for one that has a .flv extension this will be the video file you want to save. Save the Youtube video file some where on your computer and play it back with a media player like VLC Media Player which can play FLV files.
*This plugin also works with other video sites such as MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm, DreamHost and others.
You can also try these online web based download services.
