“I got the new PSP 3000 and I think it’s a great portable toy. Now I would like to transfer some movies onto the PSP. How do I put videos on my PSP?”
Before you start putting videos or any type of media on the PSP you will need to do a few things:
- Be sure you have a Memory Stick Duo in the PSP, this is where you will store media files. You should have at 1 GB stick.
- You will need to format the memory stick to create all the proper folders, here’s how to format the PSP.
We need to convert the videos into a format that the PSP can read. If you downloaded the movie than it’s most likely in AVI or DivX format. We can use a free program like PSP Video 9 which will convert the video file into the right format for the PSP.
With the video in the proper PSP format we can now manually transfer the video to the PSP via USB cable. Plug the PSP with the proper USB cable then put the PSP in USB mode, go to Settings then USB Connections and press the X button. The computer should now see the PSP as “Removable Disk Drive” or “Removable Storage” or as “Memory Stick Media”. Click on it, and click on the “Video” folder now click and drag the formatted PSP video from your computer into the PSP “Video” folder. Wait for the transfer to complete, unplug the USB cable and enjoy.
NOTE: The video can only be in one folder when inside the PSP video folder see image below.
