“What is taking up so much space on my PS3? I have the 120 GB version and nearly all my space is gone. I deleted all my demos but so much hard drive space is still missing. What can I delete to get more space on the PS3?”
1. Scroll over Games, and down to ‘Game Data Utility’ and hit ‘X’ button from the PS3 remote.
2. You will see a list of games you’ve played and installed on the PS3. You’ll find a variety of files here – game data, profiles and downloadable content. Game data can take up a lot of space on the PS3. Game profiles on the other hand barely take up any space.
You can check the file size pressing the ‘Triangle’ button, go to ‘Information’. This will give the the file size for that file. If its got KB at the end you probably dont need to delete that cause its not taking up very much space at all. Its the ones with MB at the end that are taking up a lot of space.
4. Okay lets move on. This is where you should be a bit careful, this is where games and downloadable content you’ve downloaded from the Playstaion Store are stored. I usually just delete stuff I know I’ll probably never play again or just dont need at all. So let’s save some space shall we?
5. So I want to delete Ghostbusters off the PS3, I check the information and the file is huge, its’ over 4003MB (that’s close to 4GB). I’ll probably never play this game again so getting rid of this game data will save me a lot of space on the PS3. To remove this file press “Triangle” button on the PS3 remote and select ‘Delete’ and hit ‘X’.
6. Confirm the deletion by selecting ‘Yes’. Give it a few seconds to do its job and your file should now be deleted. Press the ‘Circle’ button to go back and continue the process if you wish.
7. See how much hard drive space you’ve gotten back by checking your available free space on the PS3.
