“I want to use a different Facebook name. How do I change my name on Facebook?”

Did you sign up on Facebook with some phoney name and now you want to go legit? Understandable.

1. Log into your Facebook account.

2. When logged in click on “Settings” from the menu.

Click Settings

3. Welcome to the Facebook Settings page where you can change your “Name” and/or “Username”. Click on “Change” for whichever one you want to change. There’s a bunch of stuff you can change here such as “email” and “password” so go nuts.

Changing your name takes about 24 hours for confirmation and they may or may not approve it.

If you’re changing your username choose wisely because you are only allowed to do this once.

    OK i hope this reaches everyone who is having this trouble. I wanted to change my name but they WOULDN’T accept it!

    I got pissed but fooled around with it. And found it’s quit easy. So now that facebook has a new rule or whatever the trick is to first change the last name and then change the first name.

    so say you want to change John Smith to Abby Greenfield. You can’t just erase John Smith and then Type Abby Greenfield.

    First change ONLY the last name to Greenfield and keep the first name John. And request it and your name will pop up John Greenfield.

    Then change only the first name to Abby and don’t change last name and then request it. And your name will appear Abby Greenfield like you like to. Claire I hope this helps! but because you name is long you might need to put Claire LaGlamour Ononye. Try messing around with the middle name too 🙂

    Ok I had my name as Bridget Example. I wanted to change my first name so the R was like this я, back words. Then I wanted to change my last name Example (Not my real last name, but I’m not saying it) and i wanted to change that up a bit to make it cool. Then I didn’t like how it looked so I only wanted to change my last name, and it wouldn’t let me change it back to what it really was. So now I’m stuck with Bяidget and my last name “Example” is changed a bit too. I hate it and it won’t let me change it back to Bridget Example. Which is the way I had it in the beginning. Can you help me?

    We have been submitting requests to change my daughters name on facebook for over a year now and they will not change it. Her real name is Journey, and we have had to use her middle name. We have sent in over 100 requests to no avail. Does anyone know how to really contact them?? She just wants to use her real name! I find it hard to believe that some fake names would be accepted and her real name will not! Its making me so mad!

    I have the same problem as everyone else. It keeps saying “Your name change request has been rejected by our automated approval system” whenever i try to chage my name. It’s getting pretty annoying. I’m starting to realize that it’s a common problem amongst us all and hopefully it’ll be resolved soon.

    facebook is getting on my last nerves! its literally retarded like i tryed changing my name for 2 months .. and its ALWAYS the same answer.. “Your name change request has been rejected by our automated approval system.” <– like i had 'Pamela Norris IV" and then i wanted to change it to My REAL name, 'Pamela Yao Cavalcanti" but that doesnt seem to work, if i deactivate my account , and then re deactivate it, will it THEN let me change my name ??!?!?!?!??!?!

    I have the same problem with you guys.. i already tried like a 100 times over the past week, and i’m still rejected.. i’ve already emailed the facebook team twice, and i never got any single reply. it makes me sooo angry that i want to deactivate my account already!! huhuhuhu

    Same problem as above, whenever I types anything the facebook rejects me, tried a lots of methods such as changing one character per time, only change the last name, and even I just want to delete my middle name it also rejects too.
    Does anybody has a solution to change the name by bypassing the approval system? We will be very appreciated.

    same here mate. But deactivating your account won’t do a thing, when you sign in again, you’ll have the same name.

    Same problem as Zifars. Facebook appears not to be giving option to change real name, just alternate name – which is not same thing at all. Perhaps a temporary glitch which they are working on? But how totally ridiculous is it that there is no easy customer service contact email. To all intents and purposes they are ignoring their customers:(

    OMG this worked perfectly like to get my middle name up didnt work for me so i changed my first name, logged out, logged in, changed middle name but it still didnt work, so what you wanna do is put the middle name in the last name box and tap the spacebar in between it and your last name. Works like a charm. Then change your first name back to whatever you want. I think you can skip the first name step and go directly to last. Anyhow, good luck.
