“How do I hide icons on my desktop Mac computer?”
There are a number of different ways to hide your Mac desktop icons but one of the simplest way to do this is by using a handy little application called ‘HiddenMe’. With just two clicks of the mouse all your icons be gone from the desktop. It’s great way to hide icons quickly without any hassle.
How to Hide Icons on the Mac:
1. Head over to the Mac App Store and download the HiddenMe App. Click on ‘View in Mac App Store’ and then hit the install button to begin downloading and installing the application.
2. When it’s done downloading. Search for the app in your Spotlight search bar in the upper right corner. Click on it to launch the application.
3. You will notice a new icon on the top menu bar. Click on it to view the options. The first option is for hiding your desktop icons on your Mac computer. Select ‘Hide Desktop Icons’ and watch all your desktop folders and icons disappear will a single click of a button.
4. To bring your desktop icons back all you need to do is click on the HiddenMe icon and select ‘Show desktop Icons’. And magically your Mac desktop icons will re-appear. It really couldn’t be any easier.

On my MacBook Pro 15″, I use 5 spaces. The HiddenMe app works as advertised, and is nice… however when you have a different wallpaper in each space, HiddenMe makes them all the same. Also, when I tell HM to show my icons once again, they do appear, but as I change from one space to the next, That single wallpaper shows up briefly, then changes back into my different wallpapers. So, a little quirky with spaces, but otherwise does what it says.
