Mac’s are a little more expensive than a Windows computer but I think Apple’s operating system “Leopard” is more user friendly, and it’s got everything you need built into the operating system. iphoto for all your pictures, Apple mail, Safari (web browser), prices start about 1100 dollars for entry level Macbook laptop or iMac desktop. Go to a local Apple store and try out a Macbook, test the keyboard, and see if the screen size is right.
You can buy a cheaper computer with Windows Vista on it, Dell would be my first choice when it comes to buying a Windows based PC, I just bought a laptop for a family member with Windows Vista Premium from Dell for 600 bucks and it’s been working great.
If you can afford a Mac that would be my first choice but if money is tight than a Windows PC will be very affordable.
