My current video card has only one VGA port. Is there any way I can add a second monitor with just one VGA port for a dual monitor setup.
If you want a dual monitor setup you can use a VGA splitter to have a second monitor but it will only show the same image on both monitors, here are some examples of VGA splitters from Monoprice. If you want to have different content on each monitor than you will need to get another graphics card for your computer. Hopefully you will have another PCI slot for that other graphics card and if not you can also purchase a single graphics card with dual VGA ports which will also allow you to display different content on each monitor.

A Matrox DualHead2Go will let you do just that. It hooks up to your system’s VGA output and allows you to connect two monitors. There is also a TripleHead version if you want three monitors. Both come in analog and digital – the digital lets you hook up digital monitors and supports higher resolutions (up to 1920×1200 per monitor). See http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/ for details.

Keep in mind that when using DualHead2Go, the computer sees it as one monitor, so maximizing or fullscreening a window will use both monitors as one wide one. When using the digital monitors, each as 1920 x 1200, the computer sees it as one monitor at 3840 x 1200.

Will connecting a monitor though a VGA to DigitalPort adapter allow for “dual monitor mode” and an extension of the desktop that adding another VGA port with a video card would do?
