“My PS3 remote control keys start to stick and do not operate smoothly any more. Do you know if there is a way to make them touch & feel like new again?”
I haven’t had a chance to clean my PS3 remote yet, I guess I don’t use it enough to get it sticky and gummy. There’s nothing worse than a sticky remote so here are some tips on cleaning remote controls.
Before you start cleaning the remote remove the batteries to avoid doing any weird button operation.
Get yourself a cotton swab aka Q-Tip and find some rubbing alcohol if you don’t have that then a good mixture of dish washing soap and water should do just fine. Careful not to soak the swab just a lite dab will do. Use this combination to clean the around the crevices of the buttons. You may need more than one swab but that doesn’t matter cotton swabs are cheap, lets go a little crazy.
If there’s a lot of gunk and grime in between the buttons use a toothpick and gently pick out the yuckiness. Careful not to break a piece of toothpick inside the remote, nice and gentle.
To clean the rest of the remote get yourself a nice soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol or soapy water combination and make sure not to soak the cloth just a light dip on a small section will do. Rub the cloth all over the remote till its nice and clean.
When the remote is nice a dry put the batteries back in and take that brand spankin new remote for a test drive.
Quick Cleaning:
If you’re really lazy like me or just don’t want to put too much effort into cleaning a remote than buy some disposable sanitary wipes to wipe down the remote. Sometimes these tend to be a little too wet so be a bit careful when using these kind of wipes.
