“Is the new PS5 backwards compatible with PS4 games?”
So with the new PS5 console coming out in the near future we’re slowly getting more and more tidbits Sony’s new console. One of the biggest questions that always get asked every time a new console comes out “Is it backwards compatible?” or “Can I play my PS4 games on the PS5?”. That’s always on the top of the list. People seem to love playing old games on their shiny new console.
According to a recent interview with Sony’s Mark Cerny, the new PlayStation 5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 games.
And it will not be a download-only console, it will still use physical media discs. Which really makes sense because if backwards compatibility is important to you than you’ll want an easy way to play your PS4 game discs. Just pop in the old game disc and start playing.
The only real question is how will it handle the digital games you’ve purchased for the Playstation store. My guess would be is once you’ve logged into your PSN account you’ll should be able to download the PS4 games you’ve purchased. And you can now have your PS4 games on the PS5.
