“I have a good collection of old PS2 games but I know it’s not backwards compatible with the PS4. Is there anyway I can play PS2 games on my PS4?”
Unfortunately, your old Playstation 2 game discs will not work on the PS4. You won’t be able to just pop the disc in and start playing. If you purchased digital PS2 games on the PS3 those digital purchases cannot be transferred over to the PS4. But there is a way to play PS2 games on the PS4. Through emulation some of your favourite PS2 games will be playable on the PS4.
Head over to the Playstation Store and go to ‘Games’ and than scroll down to ‘PS2 on PS4’. Here you’ll see a list of current PS2 titles available for the PS4. Currently there’s only a small batch of games available but Sony is planning on releasing many of the major PS2 classics so check back later.
Sadly you’ll need to shell out more dough to play PS2 games on the PS4 even though you already own them. But there are some perks to buying them on the PS4 such as upscaling to HD (1080p), trophy support, Share Play, Remote Play and live streaming.
