There were instances where the Playstation Home for the PS3 was hacked. Playstation Home is sorta like Xbox 360’s Live service where PS3 owners can create their own avatars, play games, chat with other PS3 owners, and download demos.
There were several different security holes during the beta stage where the hackers could delete or add any files on Home’s server which could mean some bad guys could upload a virus onto the server which might then infect unsuspecting gamers. Sony has since patched those security holes.

It is also possible to have security holes on the PS3 web browser, just like any browser you use on your computer it needs to be updated and patched when holes are discovered.
If your paranoid enough, Trend Micro which is a very reputable anti-virus company has released a anti-virus specifically for the Playstation 3. If you have firmware 2.0 or later you can access the program by going to “Tools” -> “Browser Security” -> “Start “Trend Micro Web Security for PS3™”. It’s free till April 30, 2009.

NOW-NOW KIDS, forget all this useless arguing over which is the better game system, XBox360 vs. PS3, Read this first, than decide which eats ass!, I have now had 3 PS3 consoles die on me just since last December, it’s only now August and i’m on #4, I know, stupid me for buying another one, and FYI, I DONT even use/play the PS3 that often, only because I dont have many games for it cause PS3 doesn’t have alot of good games outside of the very BORING sports titles!!,, Two of the three PS3 units died from their internal power supply burning or shorting out, the other one the video chip died (YLOD)! The cheap-asses at SONY wouldn’t repair or replace either one that I paid a LOT for and also alot to ship to them, they gave only pure corporate greed excuses claiming that I must be overusing the units, So I guess the 2 or 3 hours I actually did ever turn them on were just to much for their Egg roll design to handle!!! For what these complete pices of shit cost they should last a lot f**KING longer!!! I bought a used PS3 for only a few bucks, much less than what SONY wanted to fix my others that they can shove up their greedy jap asses! The PS3 I have now is the newer slim generation,, hummm, a complete design change?!, Ya know, that just tells me and everyone else that has any common sense that the greedy, governtmentally protected THIEVES at ASSHOLE SONY Knew their crap was poorly designed and manufactured !!! I have also had a red-ring-of-death on my first XBOX-360, It happened when the pos wasn’t even a wek old!!! It happened while I was playing HALO online, something called a “Packet-Attack”(a network hack of some type!), so I called MS, they said to send it to them, they coulnd’t fix it so they sent me some f**ked up refurbished piece of shit that had shit ratteling around inside of, I immediately called up their customer fuck-over number and let them know that I wasn’t some dumb little kid they could easily screw over and my lawyers will have a field day on their asses, not too mention all the negative publicity I would gladly send their way for sending me back a broken unit, not to mention that I was still really pissed at SONY too!, The next afternoon my doorbell rang, it was the fed-ex guy with a brand new 360!! I have NEVER had ANY more trouble with my 360, and the unit gets used a lot each and just about everyday, IMHO, SONY and MICROSHIT BOTH SUCK IT HARD and they can eat my fat hairy ASS!!!, but at least MS took care of me, so 360 WINS! and I read somewhere that all the shit inside a PS3 costs only about $32.43,WTF do they cost so much for?
