What is Email client?
October 11, 2007
A email client is a program that runs on your computer, and what it does is it goes to a central server and grabs the data and brings it back to you. So an email client is email program such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Applemail. These programs sit on your desktop and when you open them it goes out to your isp server and downloads your email.
Web based email like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail uses the browser to get the mail online. The advantage to this is you can view your email anywhere in the world that has a internet connection and a browser, the disadvantage would be you need an internet connection.
