iPod won’t sync to iTunes

September 15, 2008

A few days ago I had no problem with my iPod syncing to iTunes. I would connect the iPod to my computer as usual and it would appear under devices. But now my iPod won’t sync to iTunes, I tried updating iTunes and even different usb ports but my iPod still will not sync, help me please.

Try reseting your iPod. press and hold the center button and the top menu button for a few seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. This may take several tries.

Other things to try:

1.The iPod battery might need to be recharged.

2.Disconnect other USB devices from your computer and connect iPod to a different USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard)

3.Restart your computer and reconnect iPod to your computer.

4.Download and install (or reinstall) the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.

1) Dip the iPod into a bucket of peanut butter.

2) Cover in chocolate syrup (may become sticky)

3) Lick off residue

4) iPod should be automatically recharged and functional

5) Thank you and enjoy your iPod

My Ipod hasn’t been working for a while and then the suggestion of looking on the Internet was brought up to fix my Ipod. I tried several times but all of the websites gave awful, complicated advice. Finally, I came to askabouttech.com and after trying the technique provided my Ipod is as good as new! Thank you so much!

My iTunes gives me the message that it has synched and that I can eject the iPod. But when I check to see if the new songs are there, nothing has been added. What gives?

Just got a new hp desktop, had my music loaded into itunes and installed newest software version, though i would hook up my ipod to sync and it erased all of my music from the ipod, hooked it back up and it started to sync and stopped to say it couldn’t sync because their wasn’t enough space like the music had never been erased – any ideas?

When my ipod touch started making suspicious beeping sounds every 10-15 minutes, I “Restored” it and fixed all the errors in the disk. Now it’s perfectly fine, the computer recognizes it, and it still won’t sync! Please help.

My iPod Classic wouldn’t sync with iTunes. Here’s what fixed the problem for me:

On the opening Summary page of iTunes, the page that you see when your iPod syncs with iTunes, there’s a checkbox labeled “Manually manage music and videos.” I removed the check, and checked the box below it labeled “Enable disk use”. As soon as I did that the iPod started syncing with iTunes. Several hundred songs (about 10% of my total) had to be resynched, so it took a while. Then everything worked.

So, I have tried every suggestion on this page…at least 3 times, in different orders. It still won’t sync from computer to iPod. I can get my iPod send purchased items to my computer. This is a new computer, I have Vista and XP on it. I have downloaded all updated, restarted computer, iPod and tried different ports and everything else posted here. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I did part of Bill’s suggestion, but I don’t have the “Enable disk use” showing, but everything else I have done. I still need help! Please. Thanks!

Sheri February 10, 2010 at 9:01 pm

I was able to “grab and drag” the items into my ipod…and it works… so that is acceptable to me.

My iPod will hook up to iTunes for a second but then it disappears. It disconnects itself every time. Any idea why it does this? I tried resetting my iPod and it didn’t work.

russell February 23, 2010 at 9:24 am

i had the same problem, after trying to reinstall and reset my ipod i managed to get it working by doing the following- go to edit on the main menu of itunes then devices then reset synch history, it seems to work after that!

jade February 23, 2010 at 9:43 am
