iPod won’t sync to iTunes

September 15, 2008

A few days ago I had no problem with my iPod syncing to iTunes. I would connect the iPod to my computer as usual and it would appear under devices. But now my iPod won’t sync to iTunes, I tried updating iTunes and even different usb ports but my iPod still will not sync, help me please.

Try reseting your iPod. press and hold the center button and the top menu button for a few seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. This may take several tries.

Other things to try:

1.The iPod battery might need to be recharged.

2.Disconnect other USB devices from your computer and connect iPod to a different USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard)

3.Restart your computer and reconnect iPod to your computer.

4.Download and install (or reinstall) the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.

Perfect. My ipod would not sync since I updated itunes version and I was getting panic stricken. Funny how I am so dependent on this little gadget. I just never thought to reset it. Thanks so much.

will resetting ipod touch cause me to lose all my music and apps? When I upgraded itunes to 10.4 64-bit. it wiped out my music and apps. ipod is now only place I have everything and itunes is telling me I can only synch the ipod to one computer. I have not changed computers so not sure why it won’t synch all my old stuff on ipod to library after I upgraded. Going crazy and don’t want to do anything that causes me to lose ipod music and apps as it is my only copy.

My I-Pod will not sync to my computer. It says that it is connected but then it just resets itself and then after a few seconds it says that it is connecting again. And it just keeps ding the same thing over and over. I tried what you said and nothing worked. It does not show up on my i-tunes that my i-pod is plugged in. I have tried two different cables and have tried 2 different computers. Is there something wrong with my i-pod??? Please help me out!!!

I had similar problem with my Ipod touch on win7 os. Itunes would not detect the ipod unless I uninstalled Itunes and installed it again but then it worked only for one time only. I tried all kinds of things to repair this and nothing worked until I changed the antivirus software from Comodo to Avast and now the problem is gone and I’m very happy.

I have 139 songs on Itunes and 981 on my iPod touch but when i click sync it says preparing to sync and then determining apps to sync then says its done. When i go to “my iPod” and go to music and click sync all music it says all my music on my iPod will be lost and my music on the computer will be put on my iPod how do i get the music on my computer on my iPod without deleting all my music on my iPod?

I recently lost all my Notes after a sync so ticked the box to I ticked the box in Devices to prevent the automatic sync. My intention was to try and restore the notes from my last backup. This was some months ago. I’ve now tried to sync my Iphone with my laptop but the phone does not register on Itunes at all. So I can’t try and restore the backup or sync. I’ve uninstalled Itunes, and reinstalled it. I’ve restarted the Iphone and the laptop. The automatic sync is authorised on the laptop. Is there something I should do on the phone settings to get my laptop to see the Iphone?

In my situation, I just got a new computer. It says that my iPod is synced with another iTunes library and can only be synced with one at a time. This won’t let me transfer my purchases to my iPod or let the songs I purchased off of iTunes be put on iPod. What do I do?

I tried everything u said and my ipod still won’t show up on my laptop or on itunes. I switched the usb port and it showed up for a sec saying new device installed, then a sec later is said something like device install unsuccesfully. My cord works cuz i plugged it n2 an adapter n the wall and it worked. This all started happening after itunes updated itself a few days ago. Does the new update not work with an ipod clasic or something?

Resettting my iPod worked right away!! I have been struggling with this all week. All of a sudden my iPod was not recognized by my computer when it always had been before, and this fixed it immediately!
