How to Encrypt Any USB Thumb Drive Part 2

Last time we went through the steps on how to encrypt and password protect a USB thumb drive, today we will go through the steps to open the USB drive so we can start encrypting our data.

1. Plug in the USB stick that you have encrypted with TrueCrypt.

2. Launch TrueCrypt.

3. Click “Select Device”, and browse for the USB Drive that you encrypted.

When selecting the USB drive choose the second line of that drive.

Click on the second line.

5. Now select a “virtual drive” to mount the USB.

Pick a drive.

6. Click “Mount”

7. You will be prompted for a password. Enter it and press “OK”.

8. If you entered your password correctly the USB drive should show up on the virtual drive that you’ve selected.

9. Double-click on the virtual drive to open the USB thumb drive.

10. Now the USB thumb drive should open like a normal USB drive. Put whatever you want here the only limit you have here is the space of the actual thumb drive.

11. When you’re finished putting your files on the USB stick go back to the TrueCrypt and click “Dismount” to close the drive and lock it back up.
