I installed Ubuntu (7.10 Gutsy) in late June and then installed Sound Juicer (to play and to rip), gstreamer (to convert) and Serpentine to burn files in mp3 format. This worked for a couple of weeks and then Serpentine decided to suddenly UNwork.

I have un- and re-installed all of the above half a dozen times. Sound Juicer finally went to ripping and playing (mp3) again, but Serpentine has never worked again since it decided to UNwork.
Each time I attempt to burn an mp3 file to a new disk I get an error that states "Converting Files Failed".

What's to convert?? The files are already saved onto my HDD in mp3 format, all Serpentine needs to do is BURN the damn things. It will not.

After about 3 weeks of fooling with this junk and not resolving the problem, I have installed Kubuntu along side Ubuntu and then installed K3b to do the job of burning mp3 files to disk. I have not had another problem burning to disk.
