How do I Disable Vista UAC

October 13, 2007

Vista has a number of security features that help protect the user for malicious programs. UAC (user access control) is a great feature built into Vista. UAC alerts you whenever a program requires administrative access to the computer. The confirmation screen can get annoying sometimes and if you decide that you can’t live with it I will show you how to disable UAC in Vista.

Let’s turn off UAC, first thing we need to do is go to the Control Panel. (Start > Control Panel)

1. Now that we are in the Control Panel select ‘User Accounts and Family Safety’

Disable UAC

2. Now click on ‘User Accounts’

Disable UAC 2

3. Select ‘Turn User Control On or Off’

Disable UAC 3

4. Ironically you will be asked to confirm this action.

5. We can now disable UAC, do that by unchecking the box.

disable UAC 4

6. Click OK, now you will be asked to restart your computer.

On your Taskbar you will now see a warning icon and if you double click it you will see UAC is now turned off and Windows is reminding you what a bad person you are.
