When you open up the browser in the Playstation 3 and press the triangle button on the controller you can see a list of options on the right side. Go to “History” and hit the “X” button you can see a list of all the sites you last visited but you may not want that. Here’s how to delete and clear the history on the PS3, press triangle again when you are in the history window and at the top you will see “Delete all” now press “X” button and a confirmation screen will appear “All history will be deleted are you sure you want to continue” go to “Yes” and press “X”. History cleared.
Also try this:
- Open Browser
- Press the triangle button with the controller
- Go to “Tools” now press the right arrow or the X button
- You should now be in Internet tools, this is where you can delete cookies, web cache and search history
- Select one and hit the X button and follow the instructions
Another thing to keep in mind is when you type in words in a search bar or in the address bar, the PS3 remember what you typed and displays it on the right window next to the keyboard for convenience, of coarse you may not want this because other people can what you typed in. So to clear that, go to the main menu (XMB) and scroll to Settings -> System settings ->Delete predictive text dictionary, press “X” and confirm.

Hi, and thanks for your information. The steps for slearing the search history on the PS3 don’t seem to be working for me. I went to System>System Settings>Delete Predictive Text. It asks if I am sure, and I say yes and push X to execute the command. It says that it has been deleted, but then when I go back to the search window, all of my entries are still there. I have gone back and tried to delete the predictive text again, but it says that there is no text to delete. What am I missing?
Hey Eric, you need to clear your search history too, I showed how on the first paragraph. Predictive text and Search history are two different things. Predictive text remembers what you typed into the search bar for faster searching. Search history are all the sites you visited.
Thanks, Tyler, but I have cleared both. The items still appear on the right hand side of the screen when I open up the internet search. I have done both of the steps mentioned in the original answer. The browser has no history associated with it, but the internet search still shows all of the items I have input when conducting searches. Any other ideas?
What your talking about is the “new” Internet Search tab. I’m having the same problems deleting that tabs “predictice text”. It’s probably a bug that will be worked out next software update.
Predictive text and search text are stored differently. The original bit above shows you how to delete the web history and predictive libraries bu because the search list is a web browser history and is thus independent of the predicitve library it will not be cleanly removed by that method. Try the following;
Open up the web browser and hit the green triangle on the remote, scroll to TOOLS and press the right arrow or X and you should access the internet tools section. On here you can delete cookies, the search history (ie the one that people here have asked about) and the web cache. Scroll to each of these in turn, hit X and follow the prompt to delete the appropriate entries.
It should work!

Put a lock on the internet browser on the PS3 and get an external memory piece for your PC. Call some computer stores around where you live and they can help you block the dang porn on the PC. Once these jerks have deleted it off the PS3 there is no way to look it back up. You could put up a hidden camera but that’s going to extreme’s. But keep the internet off the PS3 if that’s the problem, and you’ll catch what he is looking at on the computer. You can put a parental block on the PS3 by going into the internet browser, it’s free for thirty days. Lol, wonder what he’d think if you blocked him at every corner? But my favorite choice would be to take a ball bat to the PS3 if I were you. Any how I hope that helped you some.
