Free password manager that’s open source

December 6, 2007

A password manager is a program that stores all your passwords in one place and all you have to do is remember one “Master Password” to get access to all of your passwords. So if you’re like me and have fifty different passwords and logins for different websites then password management software will help you organize and keep all your password safe.

Any good password manager will have encryption so only the person who knows the master password can open the database of passwords. So it’s a good idea to have a good strong master password, password with letters and numbers, upper and lower case, and and at least 6 digits long will provide a strong password that will be hard to crack.

Today I’m gonna recommend a free open source password manager I have been using for a few months now and I like it very much. Keepass Password Safe does a great job at organizing all your password into one database and uses AES encryption to keep your passwords safe.

A really cool feature in Keepass is the drag & drop which allows you to click and drag the password into the websites login and password box.

Keepass can also be usb password manager. I have Keepass on a usb stick and that’s where I store all my passwords so I could take it along with if I had to.

Go and download Keepass
