“One of my Facebook friend disappeared from my list but I didn’t remove them. Is it normal when friends disappear from your list?”
This isn’t a Facebook bug or anything and friends will not disappear off your list for no apparent reason.
There could be a couple of reasons why your “friend” is no longer on your list.
1. Your friend might have deleted you from their “Friends List” which would them remove them from yours. I know the truth hurts but accept it and move on.
2. The friend might have deactivated or deleted that Facebook which would remove them from any friends list they might be on. If that person every decides to enable the account again then he or she will return to any friends list they were on.

There is something going on with facebook that neither of your explanations account for. I have in the last several months had a handful of friends who asked me why I deleted them and I hadn’t. But there were no longer on my friend list.
I lost 60+ friends this week for no apparent reason. I lost 40+ on Tuesday night and 25 since last night. I asked some if they have deleted me and they all say no.
What is going on?

The same thing happened to me today. A friend sent me a note asking why I deleted them as a friend. I did not. Actually, I had wondered why I hadn’t heard from them in a few days. I re-added them. Still, how many others didn’t I realize? How many people think I am, for some reason, not willing to remain their friend?
Yesterday two friends, both of whom I added last week on the same day but do not know each other, vanished from my friend list and, as it appears, from Facebook entirely because I can’t find them anywhere. However, I find it very strange that both of them would have disappeared at the same time — there’s no reason they would have deleted me! Also, as one profile was in the process of disappearing, her name vanished from my friends list, but I could still see her profile and MYSELF listed as her friend. Then, with half an hour, her post on my wall and finally her entire profile was gone. What is going on?!? I don’t think she deactivated her profile…
Friends have been dropping off for months, and I just assumed they were de-friending — but lately I’ve had three of them ask me why we weren’t friends anymore. And today, I lost three more.
The significant thing is that these de-friendings occurred when I wasn’t active. I sometimes decide I’m sick of individuals’ posts when they post one-time-too-many, and I exit their friendship at that time. But these can happen when nothing’s been going on for quite some time.
Is Facebook becoming the Toyota of social networks, refusing to investigate a problem? Not only worries me, but concerns me, since god knows who is feeling left out of my loop.
The only defense I can see to this would be finding a way to print out your friend list so you’d know what happened. But privacy concerns might stop this.
