“One of my Facebook friend disappeared from my list but I didn’t remove them. Is it normal when friends disappear from your list?”
This isn’t a Facebook bug or anything and friends will not disappear off your list for no apparent reason.
There could be a couple of reasons why your “friend” is no longer on your list.
1. Your friend might have deleted you from their “Friends List” which would them remove them from yours. I know the truth hurts but accept it and move on.
2. The friend might have deactivated or deleted that Facebook which would remove them from any friends list they might be on. If that person every decides to enable the account again then he or she will return to any friends list they were on.

There is something going on with facebook that neither of your explanations account for. I have in the last several months had a handful of friends who asked me why I deleted them and I hadn’t. But there were no longer on my friend list.
I lost 60+ friends this week for no apparent reason. I lost 40+ on Tuesday night and 25 since last night. I asked some if they have deleted me and they all say no.
What is going on?

The same thing happened to me today. A friend sent me a note asking why I deleted them as a friend. I did not. Actually, I had wondered why I hadn’t heard from them in a few days. I re-added them. Still, how many others didn’t I realize? How many people think I am, for some reason, not willing to remain their friend?
Yesterday two friends, both of whom I added last week on the same day but do not know each other, vanished from my friend list and, as it appears, from Facebook entirely because I can’t find them anywhere. However, I find it very strange that both of them would have disappeared at the same time — there’s no reason they would have deleted me! Also, as one profile was in the process of disappearing, her name vanished from my friends list, but I could still see her profile and MYSELF listed as her friend. Then, with half an hour, her post on my wall and finally her entire profile was gone. What is going on?!? I don’t think she deactivated her profile…
Friends have been dropping off for months, and I just assumed they were de-friending — but lately I’ve had three of them ask me why we weren’t friends anymore. And today, I lost three more.
The significant thing is that these de-friendings occurred when I wasn’t active. I sometimes decide I’m sick of individuals’ posts when they post one-time-too-many, and I exit their friendship at that time. But these can happen when nothing’s been going on for quite some time.
Is Facebook becoming the Toyota of social networks, refusing to investigate a problem? Not only worries me, but concerns me, since god knows who is feeling left out of my loop.
The only defense I can see to this would be finding a way to print out your friend list so you’d know what happened. But privacy concerns might stop this.
Same thing has been happening to me. I noticed my numbers kept dropping; but figured a few friends had dropped me. Then one of my best friends sent me a text and asked if I had deleted him and said he couldn’t find me. I had NOT deleted him, but I can’t find him anywhere…even through his email. This sucks!!

I actually defriended someone this past week. Since then I’ve noticed I can no longer see his profile picture on any of the mutual friend’s sites. Is it because I blocked him or does it mean he blocked me? It would be unusual timing that the same week I chose to block him, he did likewise, especially because I usually deactivate my account every time I sign off. Any ideas??
Sorry, but this article is stupid… and it makes people think that their friends deleted them when they haven’t…facebook does have a bug…one of my really good friends disappeared and I can no longer see them in games for some reason. I know they haven’t deleted me because I have access to both my account and my friend’s and neither of us are deleted on each others’ accounts, but for some reason my friend doesn’t show up in any of the games anymore, although I show up in hers. Facebook is having problems, they should stop messing with the layout and stuff and just leave it the way it was. It wasn’t having problems before…
@Sasha: Blocking is mutual. If you block someone, he cannot see you anymore, but you cannot see him anymore either.
I can see my friend, but when I click on her name I cannot go to her page. Everything just goes blank. I can toggle to leave a comment but cannot go to her page/profile. What is up with this.
one of my friends disappeared of my list and i asked him if he deleted or blocked me and he said no i went to another profile of a friend of mine who was a friend of this guy that disappeared and he wasn’t there on his list either.i tried searching for my friend but it didn’t come up!!
What sort of support and solution is that for a supposed “tech site.” Neither of your 5th grader responses are correct. I know its difficult accepting this fact but this problem does exist, there is a bug and if you don’t have a real solution don’t start a thread about it.
I can confirm this as well. I have one person who keeps disappearing, and we keep adding each other. She doesn’t know if any other friends have disappeared from her (I haven’t had anyone else disappear from what I know), but it appears to be just a problem between our profiles. She has however, experienced other malfunctions such as lost comments (OK, I have that too occasionally) and various things disappearing so there may be a connection. There are a type of Facebook viruses that can hide in your applications, but I don’t appear to have any such at the moment.
Just googled friends gone missing, hoping not find what i’ve just read above NO SOLUTION…. ALL my friends disappeared LAST NIGHT . Whilst i and one of my facebook friends was sat at the same comp she and i watched in amazment SHE WAS DELETED with us both checking my facebook page. She has now contacted our friends to let them undertand i have not done this deliberately. Reason she contacted people and not me, i’m refusing to contact any of my facebook friends online as i’m scared i may pass what i consider a VIRUS onto them….

I have the same problem as Carl-Oscar. I have one friend who keeps disappearing. I send him another request and all is well for about 24 hours, then “poof” he’s gone again. It’s getting kind of old for both of us to keep re-friending every day. The answers from TECH at the top of the page is nonsense!
I just lost all 722 of my friends,well, kind of. They are there and can see me but I can’t see any of them. All say we have a mututal friend in common….ME!!! I can’t add them back since they are still there. News feed is blank other than crappy advertisements (figures). Chat window has no friends online and that can’t be right. I emaild FB and got a generic response that asked for a screen shot (already had sent). I’ll let you know if I hear back but I’m not holding my breath.

my girlfriend has disappeared from my friends list and i cant find her profile on facebook, although her profile is still up as shes friend with my sister on there. She says she hasnt deleted or blocked me, which i believe so whats going on??????
They did not delete me or block me when i got search there name i cant even find them because when i talked to that person the said they did not delete me or block me. When i log into another account i go to my wall from another persong acount but i can see the person who i could not see post on my wall? WHY PLEASE HELPPPPP!
the same thing happens to me! i lose 10 friends each day! and i know for a fact they didn’t delete me or anything. facebook has some big mess-ups they really need to fix!
Same happened to me. I am not using facebook that much, but I got three friends invite, and I added them.
Guess what? they are now my ONLY friends! The other 10-12 (not so sure) are gone!

I had a friend request from Brandie Click, who I didn’t know, but the picture looked like a young high school girl so thought it was probably a friend of my kids. I accepted and now don’t see this person on my friend list and have looked all over facebook and this person doesn’t exist. I looked immediately after accepting the request, so doubtful it had been deleted by then. I’m worried its a way to get all my information or something!!
why do i have people on my fb list when i havent added them?!! it says awaiting friend confirmation and i didnt add in the first place! its happening to a few ppl..
Glad i’m not the only one. Every so often i’ve gone to go on someone’s profile and either can’t find them at all, or find them but they’re not my facebook friend anymore. I’ve been worried i’ve angered all these people and have been deleted but i don’t understand how i would have as when i’ve re-added the people they’ve accepted, so surely they didn’t delete me in the first place? I hope this is a facebook problem and will be sorted out.
This does NOT help at all! I have ONE friend who keeps dropping off my friend list and going to my blocked user list. I am not removing them, they are not removing me. We are having to send friend requests to each other sometimes MULTIPLE times daily! This is driving us insane and we have both changed our passwords multiple times, and all these does is slow the regularity of the issue occuring. Facebook do not even bother to respond to our repeated emails reporting the issue begging for their help.

One of my friends and myself recently decided to deactivate our facebook accounts. We both later re-activated our accounts and I noticed that his name is showing on my Friend List, but I am not showing up on HIS Friends list…. Does that mean that he delete me as his “Friend” when he reactivated his account?
