I found that when I disconnected the cable and then connected it again while the ps3 was on (I'd connected it first time while it was off) it worked just fine. Im so happy :) ive been trying to get my ps3 set up with HDMI since i got it :) one thing i did note, when you do it manually as i had to do.. when you change to HDMI on the display settings and the screen goes black you then need to change your TV to the HDMI chanel or whatever on your tv (at least i did).
